    Word Count Down….

Last year about this time I was writing up to 3000 words a day. I was finishing a book every two months! This year, these days, I’m lucky to write 500 words a day and on a good day it’s close to 1000 words a day. Okay, someone like me, who’s always self diagnosing herself for every little thing surely has to look back in time and figure out what in the world went wrong! See, at first I was ready to blame it on the stories getting more difficult now that I have so many characters to fit into one book. But now, I’m writing book six, starring two…

    An “Imagination Break”…

It’s time for me to take one of those… What’s that you say??? It’s a break to give space to my mind and allow it to craft a number of different scenarios that will move the story forward. So basically it’s not a break from the story but a break from writing it out. It’s a way to write and rewrite, and rewrite, and rewrite without actually WRITING… 🙂 This week I’ve started drawing a map of the worlds in the alternate plane.  I craft it as the characters move through them, and right now three of my characters’ goal has been hindered in one of these universes. That’s where…

    Up Late with My TV…

And after this, I’m going to bed… But I don’t know, I was just pondering the power of FICTION. See, I’ve just finished watching four episodes back to back of Sex and the City on Lifestyle TV. I love that channel BTW.  And when the last episode ended, I found myself wishing I had thought to buy the complete series box-set on Amazon.com! Because I didn’t want to leave Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte and Samantha. I find myself wanting to live in THEIR world, with friends like that. I can just say anything to them and they accept me for who I am and vice versa. But really? Is that the…

A Single Writer in… San Diego???? (coming to this blog real soon)

Today, I updated my mother on my future plans. Yes, I’m getting the H-E-Double Hockey Sticks out of dodge. I was going to wait until the lease is up in February of next year but I simply can’t last that long. I’ll put it this way… Last month, I was home back at my old Coffee Bean in Marina Del Rey, basking in the past… and the sun too. And this chick takes a seat behind me with her boyfriend (I have to assume that’s who he was). She was on her cellphone having this whole LOUD conversation in which she mentioned  some kind of personality issues the guy that…

Oh What A Day Away Can Do…

A day away from the story that is… Today, I didn’t write. I woke up WAY too late… that is 11:00AM and walked up Bell Street to Yoga before 12:00PM. Yeah, I struggled, hot room yoga on a stomach that’s empty at noon is not smart. So, while engaging in my practice book six of Parched just kept yarning itself in my head. I’d look up at the ceiling and corpse pose and all I could see is where I last left my characters and what they’re experiencing. But here’s what I recognized–my inner-storyteller wanted me to step away from the manuscript (I’ll call it that, even if it’s not…
