Reclaim the Artist Before You Write Another Word of Misty Black, Rogue Kill…

What in the world is she talking about, you ask??? Well… Once I blogged about shedding the structuralist in order to tap into the artist within me. This is how I was able to write Parched book 2, and even book 3 through 5. It was easy because I stayed in the same POV (that is point of view,  which was the first person “I” POV) and tense, which was present tense. I was able to grab on to both literary tools and construct until the end of book 5. BUT… Now, I’ve just finished outlining Misty Black, Rogue Kill (book #1), the first book in the trilogy. Today, I…

    A Film that Lingers…

I just finished watching My Week with Marilyn… I did not expect it to be what it was. When the film began it was all moving so fast and then it just kept building until suddenly Marilyn Monroe became this three dimensional PERSON. You know, I never really been into Marilyn Monroe. I mean, I used to watch some of her films on Saturday afternoons years ago when I was a kid. That’s when all those movies from the 50’s and the 60’s use to play for us in the 70’s on Saturday afternoons. I didn’t know she was like “Marilyn Monroe” back then, on the contrary, I just found…

The Seventh Sister… Plus an Update on Ignite!

The Seventh Sister is now free EVERYWHERE, even on Amazon!!! A HUMONGOUS Thank You to all who helped make that happen! Look for Parched book 5 to be released soon! I am delayed but I refuse to rush it and cut corners. I have to go where the story leads me and it has led me to an extra chapter! Hopefully it won’t lead me to another one… I’m pretty sure it won’t but… True story… I was writing on a Macbook Air that I bought last month and received in the mail a week before last. I bought it used because it came with all the applications like MS…

    Crunch Time and I’m Crumbling…

At least that’s what it feels like… The worst places to be in writing a book is at the very beginning and the last chapter. Why? I hear you asking… Well, the beginning because you’re setting the tone and the foundation of the story. But the END???? Well… it’s not so easily explained and I don’t have much time explain it because like I said in the subject, it’s crunch time and I’m crumbling under the the pressure of it. So here’s the rushed and very scattered version of why the end is just as hard as the beginning.. First, because the pressure of time. I’ve booked time with the…

    Greatest Compliment Ever…

I must say, that today, a few minutes ago, actually, I received the greatest compliment ever… So last night, like usual, I send my mom what I’ve already written of book 5 of Parched. She’s a black belt reader, and my first-line editor and proofreader.  She tells me when I need more backstory on this or that or I understand why this or that happened. This needs to be made more clear. And then there’s the fixing the there instead of their, and that kind of stuff. This is before it goes to the editor and still… The business of words is tough, the road to perfection long. I mean,…
