Who would you like to see featured in the next Parched novel?

Just curious. Who would you like to see featured in the next Parched novel?

At first I was thinking Zill and Vayle because I have the perfect first sentence waiting to be written. Then, I after the recent re-edit of The Fifth Sister (sorry about the previous version, it was released in the early days, before I realized I need at least two good professional edits per book, and a serious re-read.), after my re-read I found myself caught up in Β Finn and Glo. I have some ideas for them. I can really deal with Lario if I go straight into Adore and Chex. I think it’s time to quench that little honeymoon faze of theirs. Then, there’s Clarity and Baron.

Also, I was thinking of bringing this Gia Scoralini into the next book to shake up Baron and Finn’s world. Should be fun. After re-releasing the remastered versions of Quenched and The Fifth Sister this week, I’m Parched Charged.

So… I’m gong to write three books at one time for the next 4 or 5 months.

Let’s see how that works for me… Probably won’t but I need to focus on something and SOON. I tell you, my writing has been all over the place. In the last week and a half, I’ve written over 15k words–starting 3 different books! And none of them have lit that fire in me–not like my Parched series. I’m trying to shake it up but I don’t know if I can! Sighhh…. Misty Black and Parched. That’s what I need to write until this itch leaves me (if that ever happens).

But for now, just curious… Who are you most eager to see first.

UPDATED ON 6/7/2013:

Thanks so much for your input. I think I know what you want and your input has been invaluable!

Most people will like to see Zill and Vayle and then Clarity and Baron. Β The good news is that they have a tie that binds them in the immediate future. I’m going to start building outlines and see where stories take me.

Thanks again for the feedback ladies!

Much Love,

Z

I would definitely like more on Clarity and Baron. I think it would absolutely be terrific if Clarity, by divine intervention, had a child by Baron. Of course I haven’t read the whole of the Parched series, just Parched and Quenched although I will. So maybe you have already made a forever life for Clarity and Baron together?

    • Z.L Arkadie

And Helene, I can’t WAIT to give you more Clarity and Baron! πŸ™‚ Baron made a brief appearance in the book I’m writing now. Oh, yes, they will be together forever–I can tell you that now you’ve read Quenched ;-). I hope you enjoy the rest of the series. Warning–book six is racy, steamy and lusty! That’s because there’s a vampire in it, who pretty much embodies all three and more! But it’s the only book of it’s kind. Thanks for stopping by and leaving your opinion. It just makes me more antsy to write the next Baron and Clarity Novel. If only I had 100 percent use of my brain and three sets of hands! Oh, and I didn’t have to eat or sleep. I tell you, I would write 24/7! πŸ™‚ Have a terrific week! Z

Although I love them all and simply cannot wait for the next one (lol don’t you love it when you get into a story line that has been out for a little while and then realize you have caught up to the present and have no more books to read!!) I can’t seem to settle on whose story I want to see come around again. They all have things that I want to know more about. I agree with all of the above comments that Clarity and Baron are great…Zill and Vayle intrigue me and make me want to see how their relationship grows being as they are so young compared to everyone else…however, I feel like Chex has me wrapped at the moment. I feel like there were hints dropped to some deep dark secret in his past…like why does he hide his true looks. I know that in the books some of that is revealed. However, I would really love to learn more about not just Chex, but the Vestop (sp) side of his character. And besides…if Adore is there then Lario is bound to pop back up…and if Lario pops up then all of the sisters and their bonds will most likely make a visit at some point right? lol I like Jennifers idea of using all of them again…however, while I enjoyed reading from all of their perspectives, I missed that in depth attraction and connection I got during all of the other books. I like feeling like I am completely in their world and when you focus on just one or two I really get that feeling πŸ™‚ Thanks for writing these wonderful books! I have simply loved reading them and hope the next comes out soon! πŸ™‚

    • Z.L Arkadie

You know what, Rebecca, I feel the same way. It feels better for me to write the story from one of the sister’s perspective. It’s VERY difficult to write a story from so many perspectives. Truthfully, I’m going to try to avoid it. Plus, it does lose a little of that emotional impact but books 1-7 were written to introduce the readers to the world. Now the fun begins! πŸ˜‰ I’m back to writing a solid 3k words a day so for sure the next book in the series will be finished by the end of the year. I’ll keep everyone updated once I start writing it.

You’re very welcome and Thanks for reading them! πŸ™‚ Have a wonderful week! Z

    • Rebecca

I do love how you write πŸ™‚ I like that it often switches between the couple that is in that story. It is nice to see how they both feel about a situation…makes me get even more attached. I am actually rereading them all from the beginning now just in case I missed something the first go around! I am such a dork! πŸ™‚

    • Z.L Arkadie

Ahhhh… That made me smile πŸ™‚ Thank you so much, Rebecca! You’re motivating me to hurry up and write and release the next book in the series! Seriously, I can’t wait to get started. Thanks again! And I’m a WAY bigger dork than you can ever be! πŸ™‚ Have a wonderful evening! Z

    • Rebecca

Glad I could make you smile πŸ™‚ Being a dork is an awesome thing isn’t it! I love that I am having to use my Kindle as a reward for getting my daily chores done haha I wake up and just want to sit down and read…especially with all of this rain! I need to make myself sit down and work on the story running through my head…I have been trying to write it all down for a while now but can’t seem to get it done πŸ™ By the way, I think it is awesome that you take the time to talk to your readers and see what their opinions are on your books. I’m sure it helps you as a writer, but as a reader it makes me smile to know that I can comment and get a true response not just a carbon copy that everyone receives πŸ™‚

    • Z.L Arkadie

Yes it is awesome! πŸ™‚ Oh, reading and writing in the rain is the best! Especially indulging in a nice paranormal romance. Enjoy! Yes, hearing from readers lets me know what they like and helps me figure out why they like it so that I can balance tastes with the requirements of the story. Basically, experience has taught me that feedback is VALUABLE. πŸ™‚

Happy reading and possibly writing in the rain! πŸ™‚

      All best,
      Z

Just read the 7 books in the parched series and I was reading the comments here and just thought I would throw my 2 cents in. How about continuing with all of the characters like you did in Vanquished and maybe just zone in on a couple key characters like ridding the world of Lario Eglesis. Just a thought…

    • Z.L Arkadie

Hi Jennifer, LOL! Everyone wants Lario dead. He is a scoundrel and believe me I’ve fought the urge to kill him off a number of times. Thanks for the suggestion! All best, Z

  • victoriawarren

Well I have been saving my answer until I was finished with Vanquish. I will say that I did read it slowly. With the switch in characters paired with my very crappy schedule as of late, I wanted to make sure I didn’t miss a thing. Plus, I am trying to get caught up with True Blood and Nurse Jackie!! LOL Those all take up so much of my reading time.

First my vote. I have been going over this in my head ever since you posted this. I am extremely fickle! Can’t make my mind up about almost anything! I think that Clarity and Barron need some revisiting. Since they have learned to enjoy each other much more that previously, maybe their relationship can evolve into something more. I really was surprised when Barron just took her like he did in her apartment!! I had to read it a couple of times! That’s ok though, I will never complain about re-reading a love scene. πŸ˜‰ Although, I do think maybe Vayle and Zill are starting to really be committed. They are evolving too. Gees, this is just too hard of a decision. :S SO, glad that’s your job. HEHE!

Next, I am addicted to both Nurse Jackie and True Blood. Since I am new to both I have been obsessively trying to get caught up!! So, Nurse Jackie is so so bad!! But of course, she does have some redeeming qualities that keeps us from hating her all together. But as for realistic, I don’t know. I can only speak from my own experience and that is small hospital with limited ER experience. First, we don’t fornicate in the pharmacy, at least nobody I know has. πŸ˜‰ Nobody I know steals drugs from the Pyxis. We do sometimes take our wedding rings off at work, but that is just so the nasty crud from patients don’t seep through and make us sick. πŸ˜› Nobody I know has a secret life away from our coworkers. Quite the contrary, we probably tell each other more home stuff than we share work stuff with our spouses!! We don’t joke about, or falsify organ donation stuff. We don’t help our terminal friends die. Those two things just aren’t cool!! Nurse Jackie is just a really effed up chick!! I do love her cohorts though. And so far, she has the most awesome hubby!! Can’t remember everyones names but, you get the picture.
True Blood, well what can I say, it’s True Blood. I never thought my husband would like it, but we are both hooked. We are mid 3rd season and have spent a few nights sleepless watching it. We have to wait til the kids are sleeping because, well, you know. We think Sookie is kinda stupid and Jason is really stupid. And believe me, I’ve seen stupid before. He is taking the cake!! And Lafayette, mmm good!! I don’t really care if he’s a diva!! He is HOT!! Eric, super hot too! If you wanna see some sex scenes, you’ll get your fill!! We like Sam and think he is the most normal guy on the show. Which is kind of ironic. Anyway, its all sorts of messed up, we like it. They both make my life seem not so bad. LOL

If I didn’t thank you before, thank you, thank you, thank you for the books.
And don’t worry about the edits. You’re forgiven, you just got excited about the release!! I would be more pissed about wasting the money, you paid someone to do a job they didn’t do. You know we (your fans) will always forgive you! And really, I have seen worse. You shouldn’t have to apologize.
    Talk to ya later, Vic

    • Z.L Arkadie

I love your assessment of Nurse Jackie! I agree, she’s just too crafty for her own good but she does have a redeeming quality or two. I’m just wondering when is the character going to stop throwing her life away.

I love Lafayette too! And Sam is a dream. I wish I were in your shoes, watching all the episodes from the beginning. Have fun! I will say that the series was better during the early seasons. Last season was a bust–I just didn’t get it. The only redeeming quality was the Werewolf, Alcide. Wait until you see him. O.M.G. Like–OMG! πŸ™‚ They better be lucky they had a nice array of hunks to showcase in the puzzling scenes. And I don’t understand how Terra became what she turned into. It seems forced.

I know right. Personally, I would want more Glo and Finn. I like Finn. But I can get more creative with Zill and Vayle, only, it would be difficult to feature them without seeing Clarity and Baron first. Clarity and Baron are needed to bring Bill Lintner fully into the series. Bill intends to stay close to Zill at any cost, even that of his humanity.

Yeah… I can’t believe my editing luck. I can’t seem to get it right. I know exactly where the breakdown occurred. It became a war of the punctuation instead of words. I’m in the midst of getting it fixed now. The lesson is to book editing far in advance with the POPULAR proven editors that most successful indies use and make those deadlines! πŸ™‚ I have an edit scheduled with Red Adept in July for The Martha’s Vineyard love story. It’s hot. πŸ™‚

Thanks so much Vic for stopping by! It’s always a joy to hear from you. You’re such a blessing πŸ™‚ Talk soon! Z

    • Lena Johnston

Since you’re both Truebies, did you read the books? Especially the final book? I had just finished that one when I started on this series. I broke my old record. 7 books in 4 days. I just couldn’t stop!!

    • Z.L Arkadie

I must admit that I hadn’t read any of the books. I did try… Sighhhh… But that was a long time ago when I had TONS of stress in my life. I think I’ll try again in the near future.

  • Melisa Rechenmacher

I voted for Zill and Vayle. They kinda remind me of my own childhood, and looking at my three girls and how different they are, and now my grand-girls and how different they are. Zill is the tomboy, the fighter and I LOVE THAT!! I too, would like to know more about their parents. Someone else noted that Baron and Clarity would be good because they were the first. I agree to a point, because they’ve been “out of focus” for so long, but I think Zill had a “skimming over” and not a real “in depth” story, like the rest of them. I don’t know if it was because she was younger or what. Also for some reason Vayle is an enigma to me. I don’t understand him and I’d like to know him better. I too, would also like to see Lario get his and get it good. But with all good, there has to be evil… we’d have no good stories of good vs. evil if not for Lario! Thanks for asking and letting us be actively involved in your writing process. I’m testing recipes for cookbooks, I’m sure three cookbooks at one time is easier by far than what you’re doing!

    • Z.L Arkadie

Ummmm… Testing recipes πŸ™‚ True what you said about Lario. The good thing about him is that he’s going to screw with everyone but he’s really coming for Baron and Clarity and Adore and Chex. Since Chex is a sniffer his story-line will always cross Baron and Finn’s. And thanks for the part about Vayle. He does need a good story to show readers how much he’s changed since The Seventh Sister and so does Zill. I have a solid mission in mind for them that directly relates to what Felix told her at the end of Vanquish.

I would imagine cookbooks aren’t easy to write. It’s still an art-form. πŸ™‚ I just bought a cookbook for my mom who LOVES to cook. They are the perfect commodity! The best gifts! So, please, do tell us when your cookbook is released!

Thanks so much for your comments, they have been valuable! All best, Z

  • Crimsonflower01

I think that Vanquish was great! I read it in one day!!! I was soo amped when I got the email that it was being released. That being said, I would love to see Lario get VANQUISHED!!! I voted for Adore and Chex because I like how his character is the complete opposite of Adore and how it really makes their relationship work. I like how the light is affecting Chex as well but I would love to see how Lario tries to get their bond rescinded. He is really the uber-villian that makes this series such a rush to read. I would also love reading about anyone of the sisters but I think that Adore and chex should be first. When will Misty Black be available for purchase again?

    • Z.L Arkadie

I’m hoping to get Misty Black to the editor next month. That Lario is resourceful. I had to re-read Quenched and the The Fifth Sister after re-edits and boy is he dastardly! LOL! What a douche.

Read the comments I made to Melisa, it’ll give you an idea of what I have in store for Adore and Chex. The good thing is Finn, Baron and Chex will always be close. Lot’s of interweaving between them πŸ™‚

Thanks for the comment; it really helps me determine in what direction to go. I have my favorites too! LOL! I want to go in the right direction, not my direction! πŸ™‚ Finn and Glo. πŸ˜‰

      All best, Z

  • Deb Smith

Although I voted for Adore and Chex I would love anyone. Mostly I want to see that awful Lario to get his and good!!! However I think my favorite is Baron and Clarity maybe becasue they were my first read and I love them with a specail love(kind of like a fist-born child. I love all my children but the first always has a special place.
Again, I will read anything you write about the Parched family. Any chance we might get a better look at the parents of all these strong women????

    • Z.L Arkadie

Hi Deb! Yep, we’re definitely going to see more of Ce’lah’ime and Felix in the future. Thanks for the vote and the comment–food for thought! πŸ™‚ Have a wonderful week! Z

    • Lena Johnston

oooooooo!!!! That’s who I want next!! Ce’lah’ime and Felix!!

I voted for Zill and Vayle, partly because I want to see how she deals with her Dad and his bossing her around! πŸ™‚

    • Z.L Arkadie

Yes, I plan for Felix to be very present in Clarity’s life.

However, I think you hit the nail on the head here, Lena!!! The one and strongest common denominator that’s factoring into both Clarity and Zill’s immediate future is Felix. And then there’s Bill… And then there’s Vayle’s power of the sun. Since Adore rescinded the bond, then Lario’s just going to need his blood.

Oh… Now I’m all excited about the next book in the series again! LOL!

Thank you so much for your valuable input. Oh, and if you think about it, Zill is used to being told to do something she doesn’t want to do. She’ll pout and complain the entire way but she’ll do it! LOL! Unless she decides not to, and then what happens????? πŸ™‚ You’re right! That would be an interesting question to answer!

      Thanks again, Lena!
      Z

I am LOVING this series. I was so pumped getting to book 7 and finding that you were going to continue the series … I will be waiting on tenterhooks for the next release πŸ˜€
